I found this New York Times article earlier today. I am actually not sure what lead me to it. The article concerned a new encyclopedia on the classical world, called The Classical Tradition. The volume sounds fabulous. According the article, it "new single-volume reference work aptly described by its publisher as 'a discursive guide to antiquity and its reverberations'" (article). Apparently it is traces it's lineage back to on the Suda, an encyclopedia from 10th century Byzantium. It sounds amazing.
